Marilyn, Marilyn II is one of fifteen paintings by Robert Indiana that takes the actress Marilyn Monroe as its subject. The image in the painting is based on a 1949 nude photograph of Monroe by Tom Kelley, and which was popularized in a calendar in the 1950s. The work was first exhibited in the exhibition Robert Indiana at Galerie Guy Pieters, Saint-Paul de Vence, France in September 2001. It was also included in Robert Indiana: To Russia with Love at the State Russian Museum, Saint Petersburg, Russia, April 7–June 7, 2016, and in Robert Indiana, at the Pinacoteca Comunale Casa Rusca, Locarno, Switzerland, April 9–August 13, 2017.
